Old Labels

Old Labels. In the Museum für Frühindustrialisierung – the Museum of Early Industrialisation – in Wuppertal, Germany, I came across some shelves storing and displaying these bundles of cards, tied up with string and labelled. In fact the cards are 'programs' for embroidering the (modern) patterns and logos on the beautiful and still-functioning 19th century looms on display.

With light from a window out of the picture to the left, and shooting at an angle, I used a fairly wide aperture on the 50mm lens to blur the labels either side of a focal point. In Photoshop post processing I converted the image to a quite punchy monochrome, then pulled back just a little colour to warm up the final picture.
