Curved Tower

Curved Tower. I was excited to come across the Riverwalk apartment building for the first time as I was walking near the north end of Vauxhall Bridge in London. An interesting and attractive addition to the north bank of the Thames, the development was designed by architects Stanton Williams and completed in 2016; this photo was taken in the Spring of 2017. Photographically it combines one of my favourite subjects – strong architectural shapes – with some nice flowing curves. Although there's not much colour in the building and the sky here was a lowering grey, it seemed a natural for monochrome to emphasise the shapes and tones. Shot using the AF-S DX Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED, Nikon's first lens designed specifically for the smaller DX sensor back in 2003, and still a top performer.

Technical: NIKON D3200, f=16.0 mm, ISO200, 1/250 sec @ f10.0
