Passing

Passing. The dome of the Reichstag in Berlin – the home of the German parliament – was designed by British architect Norman Foster and completed in 1999. The innovative adjustable mirrors on its central column are actually designed to reflect daylight down into the Plenary Chamber below, but they might just as well have been intended to provide photo opportunities for photographers. The challenge is to grab an interesting scenario as it's played out several times across the frame. Here I liked the different crops of the brightly-coloured tourists looking away from each other as they pass, with the floor-light making a third element in each scene. In competition the judge clearly thought it was a repeat of a single image, despite the different crops and that I'd deliberately left the dark areas between them slightly curved and angled.
