Frederick the Great Memorial
This bronze statue of Frederick the Great on Berlin's Unter den Linden commemorates Frederick II of Prussia. It was created by Christian Daniel Rauch and completed in 1851, and shows "Old Fritz" in his military uniform, ermine coat and tricorne hat above more than 70 leading generals, statesmen, artists and scientists of his time. It was moved to Sanssouci in Potsdam by East Germany in 1963, and was restored to its original location here in 1980.
I managed to get my shot at an unusually quiet moment for this normally busy road – at around 6:00pm on an early summer evening – and was rewarded with a cyclist enjoying the empty road.
