Photographers

Photographers. Taken in Berlin on the final day of a 2011 trip to Berlin and Leipzig. I was travelling home on a night train that evening so had the whole day to catch up on some exteriors – until now much of my time had been spent visiting museums and galleries – and it was just as well that the sun finally appeared, for the first time since I arrived in the city. I headed to Gendarmenmarkt for photos of the Konzerthaus and of the tall, narrow, matching Deutscher Dom and Französischer Dom.

I wanted a nice symmetrical shot of the statue of the great philosopher and playwright Friedrich Schiller in front of the Konzerthaus, but other photographers and their 'models' insisted on being in my frame. Finally they came together in a symmetrical arrangement and I made the best of it. There were a couple of people at the top of the steps (even one in red!) who had to be removed in Photoshop; these days I think I'd be trying to take multiple shots to make the removal process easier.

Technical: NIKON D300, f=46.0 mm, ISO320, 1/1250 sec @ f8.0
