photos of the Lake District
The High Stile ridge, which lies to the south west of Buttermere, provides a number of short, sharp climbs to its peaks of Red Pike, High Stile itself, High Crag and Haystacks – the climb to Red Pike is particularly nasty whether you come up from Buttermere or from Ennerdale, though there is a gentler route round the end of the ridge. But on a clear day the views from the top are stunning, and I can't hope to do them justice here. In thick cloud the ridge itself is interesting! These photos were taken on walks in the area (click a thumbnail image for a larger image with caption).
