Infrared
In Autumn 2023 I finally got round to having an oldish, entry-level DSLR converted for infrared – the standard internal filter over the sensor that cuts out infrared wavelengths is replaced with one that allows IR but blocks visible light. Initially more expensive, a converted camera is a far more practical solution than using an IR filter in front of the lens, as it allows the camera to be handled normally, without having to set up the shot without the filter and then attach it. A converted mirrorless camera is probably the best solution of all. Click the thumbnails below for larger images, captions and technical details.
